Let's use food to inspire people

"I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower peopler everywhere to cook again."

Jamie Oliver

So true don't you think? The situation in America is happening to Singapore too, not as bad but not great either. A lot of my friends don't cook and neither do their parents. They have no basic knowledge of the food they consume. They even choose not to know (even though food is the one of the most crucial part of our lives) and I even got criticized for trying to spread what I feel is best for the people around me.

How many of us care about the food we put into our mouth each day? On average each of us consume food 1095 times in a year (If we eat 3 meals a day). You do realize that what we eat affects our lives right? If you just ignore and eat anything that is convenient and 'yummy' for 1095 times in a year and if you are 20 this year  you would have consume 21,900 meals. Your body is basically controlled by what you eat each day. So if you are consuming crappy oily hawker food, imagine the amount of oils and unhealthy fats in your body! But if it is healthy plant-based wholesome food for the next 20 years of your life, I'm sure you will feel much better physically, emotionally and spiritually too:)

I can't help but agree with Jamie Oliver and secretly this is my wish for my generation too...

Oh you are so right about the food situation in Singapore. I don't get how some people can eat fast food or hawker food daily. Eventually, you will LOOK like someone who eats hawker food daily...

I have friends who think I am insane for making meals three times a day almost daily.

Perhaps things need to get worse before getting better. I mean, if there was a sense of "crisis", people might sit up and pay attention.

Btw, I'm so glad to have found your blog - it's a v interesting read :)

Oh yay! Finally a Singaporean who agrees with me!! Too bad you are in tokyo! I have friends who are really starting to 'look like someone who eat hawker food daily'. So saddening! I get so frustrated!
